Description
The austere façade of the 16th century monastery of the Madonna delle Grazie imposes itself on the magnificent countryside of Norcia.
On the 8th September each year, it is home to the solemn celebration of the Madonna’s birth, a celebration which is centuries-old. The event, which is held on the fields close to the monastery, starts in the afternoon with a “trip to the country” and continues till late at night with traditional songs and dances.
All the residents of the villas and castles in the plain of Santa Scolastica take part.
